Portraits
Friends and family drift in and out of focus from the surface of woven tapestries.
Originally conceived through a series of self portraits, these works capture the conflicting states of being and changing. Evoking glitched clouds, the wispy geometric trails and thread flow into portraits, each catching the subjects in moments of transition, disassociation, and shifts from focused and unfocused. These portraits are painted onto unbound yarn that are then woven on a loom. Because the warp shifts as the portraits are woven, the images experience forces of both imbedding and disruption.
